Welcome.
Welcome—I’m so glad you’re here. Painted Heart Yoga grew from my own journey through healing, loss, and rediscovery, and it has become a space where I can share the practices that carried me through. If you’re curious about the heart behind this work and how yoga and art came together in my life, I invite you to read a little more about my story below.
My Story
Painted Heart Yoga was founded by Lori Rome, whose life was forever changed by her journey through head/neck cancer in 2018 and the isolation that brought. Having done yoga most of her life and being a mixed-media artist, she found that combining those practices gave her a place to put all those feelings through 'heart journaling' and yoga, even if it was only pranayama (breathing) in child's pose. Using art and yoga as self-care helped to allow her focus on healing through treatment. They became lifelines that helped her to process the grief that comes with the loss of the life she once had imagined when facing divorce and all the people that she lost along the way back to health. Emerging from all of that, Lori felt called to share the healing that can come from combining these practices to heal from and cope with life.
Painted Heart Yoga was created to bring people together in a supportive, nurturing environment where healing, mindfulness, and creativity can unfold naturally. Each 2-hour workshop thoughtfully blends restorative yoga and guided expressive art to help participants reconnect with their bodies, calm their minds, and explore their emotions in a safe, welcoming, creative environment by the sea.
Yoga is a wonderful healing practice that helps the body release tension, alleviate stress, and find balance. By embracing mindful breathing, gentle movements, guided meditation, and relaxation techniques, yoga nurtures and deepens our connection to ourselves. It's especially beneficial during periods of healing, allowing us to slow down, tune in, and restore strength, all at our own pace.
Art offers a different but equally meaningful pathway to healing. Creative expression allows emotions that may be difficult to put into words to move through color, texture, and form. Simply the act of creating can be meditative, grounding, and deeply freeing. It invites curiosity rather than perfection and can help people process experiences, rediscover joy, and reconnect with their inner creativity in a state of flow.
With Painted Heart Yoga, these two practices come together beautifully to create workshops that nurture the mind, body, and spirit through gentle, heart-centered restorative yoga and an intuitive, accessible art. Yoga and Art Heal the Heart. No prior experience with yoga or art is needed.
Our goal is for everyone to feel welcome and supported in participating.
Painted Heart Yoga is about community and healing, not about perfect poses or perfect paintings.
It’s about creating space to breathe, to feel, to express, and to heal—together.
Let's celebrate the journey of healing through the transformative power of yoga and art!
